MGA Professor's Research Examines Nutrient Intake's Effect On Aging

Congratulations to Dr. Amber Howard, assistant professor in #MGA's Department of Natural Sciences! She is the first author of this study, which suggests that it may be possible to develop anti-aging drugs that prolong healthy lifespan without the loss of muscle tissue. (In academic publishing, "first author" generally means the person who contributed the most to the work.) The study also offers insight into the mechanisms underlying the longevity-promoting benefits of exercise and, conversely, the drawbacks of being the animal model equivalent of a couch potato. Howard has research space on MGA's Cochran Campus and works with C. elegans with her students. #AmazingFaculty
