MGA Nursing Students Explore Health Care in the Dominican Republic

Nine Middle Georgia State University nursing students traveled abroad with faculty member, Dr. Kendra Russell, to complete a service-learning project in the Dominican Republic for spring break 2023 where they learned about the communities of San Jose De Ocoa, Los Martinez, and Taton.

Students were able to provide care in nursing homes, community centers, rehabilitation centers, and residential homes and toured healthcare facilities, sustainable model communities, and farms. Students were also able to earn clinical hours for selected nursing courses. The trip was facilitated by Education First.
