Accounting Students Win First Place in State-Wide Competition

Brent Barnes, Andrew (“Cody”) Beck and Drewry (“Jackson”) Hobbs won first place (and $1,000 each) for their research and analysis of a not-for-profit entity with governance, control and reporting weaknesses.  Their work bested teams from undergraduate and graduate schools across Georgia.  Their faculty advisor, Dr. Carol Sargent, has coached MGA teams “to the podium” for the past five years in the Internal Audit Case Competition held in Kennesaw, GA annually and sponsored by the Atlanta Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors.
