The Peacock Gallery is calling for entry of artwork from Middle Georgia State University students to the 7th Annual Middle Georgia State University Juried Student Art Exhibition.
On the Cochran Campus, entries will be accepted between Mon., March 25th & Fri., March 29th, 2019 in the Art Studio (Russell Hall, Room 315) between 8 am – 5:30 pm Mon. through Thurs. & Fri. between 8 am – 12 noon. Place entries on the large table or podium on the left in the classroom.
On the Macon Campus entries will be accepted between Mon., March 25th & Fri., March 29th, 2019 in the Art Studio (Arts Complex 236) between 8 am – 5:30 pm Mon. through Thurs. & Fri. between 8 am – 12 noon. Place entries on the tables against the wall in the content area under the sign that states “Juried Exhibition Submissions” (behind the desks).
Artworks to be submitted for competition must have a completed submission form attached to each work (preferably the back of 2-D works & the bottom of 3-D works). These can be found in Russell Hall, Room 315 on the large podium and in the Arts Complex room 236 on the info table next to the sink in the content area.
Prizes and Reception*
The opening reception on the Cochran Campus will be in the Peacock Gallery (Russell Hall) on Monday, April 8th, 2019 from 6:00 to 7:00pm. Refreshments will be offered. Announcement of winners will be made between 6:30 and 6:45pm during the reception.

All prize categories are subject to change. Changes to prize categories are at the judges discretion.
*All award winners’ artwork(s) may be held over for up to a year for showing in the President’s office area or other appropriate area on campus. This should be considered an honor.
Any person who has been enrolled as a full or part-time student at Middle Georgia State University during the 2018-2019 academic year is eligible to submit artwork that was created after January 1, 2018 that fits into one of the following categories. Works submitted must be original. However, mastercopies may be submitted, but must be properly documented as to their source (artist, title of original work, date originally completed). Otherwise, there may be no reproductions or derivatives of another’s artwork, including photographs, in any capacity. No performance art will be accepted. Any artwork created by individuals during their high school tenure is in ineligible for submission.

Installation Environmental** Pottery
Up to 3 entries per student may be submitted, but only 2, 2-Dimensional artworks may be submitted per student***
Diptychs, Triptychs, Polyptychs, or other types of multi-part artworks and installations may be submitted but may not exceed to the maximum size for a single artwork, as listed below, when displayed.
**Documented temporary installation and environmental artworks must be submitted in the form of a looping timed PowerPoint (.ppt or .pptx ONLY) document or video (.avi, .mp4, or .mkv ONLY). Submissions of this nature must be provided in the form of a flash drive attached to a submission sheet.
Artworks may not exceed the following specifications:
A maximum of 40” x 40” for 2-D works and a maximum of 4’ x 4’ x 4’ for 3-D works. Some weight restrictions may apply. Special consideration for exceeding these restrictions may be considered a Special Consideration Request that may be attached to the work with the submission.
Each work submitted must be ready for display (i.e. framed or provided, with instructions, in the manner in which it should be displayed) and have a completed submission sheet attached to it. Two-Dimensional artwork should have proper hangers (ie. proper eye screws and wire). No sawtooth/alligator hangers please. If the work is not provided ready for display and/or does not have a completed submission sheet, it will not be considered for the competition. All special instructions for display must be included on the submission for the artwork it pertains to.
SPECIAL NOTE: As a juried exhibition, not all works submitted will be selected for the show. Once the submission period is completed, the judge will select which works will be in exhibition. Students whose works are not selected will be contacted via e-mail as to which works were not selected with details for pickup.
Artwork selected and displayed in the 7thAnnual Middle Georgia State University Juried Student Art Exhibition will be available for pickup between Monday, April 29th, 2019 and Tuesday, May 7th, 2019 in the Art Studio (Russell Hall, Room 315) between 8:00am and 5:30pm. Artworks from students on the Macon campus will be delivered by the last weekend in April and will be available for pickup from Monday, April 29th, 2019 through Tuesday, May 7th, 2019 between 8:00am and 5:30pm in the Art Studios (Arts Complex 236).
Artworks not retrieved by 5:30pm, Tuesday, May 7th, 2019 for students on the Cochran campus and Tuesday May 7th, 2019 for students on the Macon campus will be considered abandoned unless special arrangements have been made, in writing, with one of the art professors. As such, abandoned artworks will become property of the Peacock Gallery. The Peacock Gallery reserves the right to keep, sell, donate or dispose of all or part of any artwork, which becomes property of the gallery.
*This Juried Student Exhibition is funded through student activity fees and is free to all members of the Middle Georgia State University campus community. All artworks submitted to the competition are self-expressions of those who created them and are not intended to represent the ideas or views of the Peacock Gallery, its director, or employees. They do not reflect the views of the Middle Georgia State University faculty, staff, administration, student body, or the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia.

***All students submitting artwork, upon submission of the artwork, agree not to hold Middle Georgia State University and the Peacock Gallery liable for any loss, damage, or theft to any artwork submitted, in-whole or part, to the Annual Middle Georgia State University Juried Student Art Exhibition.
