Civil War History Series – Sponsored by MGA History Student Organization

Viewing and discussion of the films “Glory” and “Lincoln” are among the events planned for this fall’s Civil War History Series sponsored by Middle Georgia State University’s History Student Organization. All events are free and open to the public:

  • 5 p.m. Monday, September 16: Watch and discuss the movie “Glory,” the story of the man who leads the U.S. Civil War’s first all-black volunteer company (IMDb). Jones Building, room 145, Macon Campus.
  • 5 p.m. Tuesday, November 5: Watch and discuss the movie “Lincoln,” which depicts the U.S. president struggling with continuing carnage on the battlefield as he fights with many inside his own cabinet on the decision to emancipate the slaves (IMDb). Jones Building, room 145, Macon Campus.
  • 9 a.m. Saturday, November 16: Battlefield tour, Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park, Macon.
