Cochran Bypass closed for road improvements starting Tuesday, April 25

Starting on Tuesday, April 25, Middle Georgia State University students and employees should expect increased traffic on 2nd Street in downtown Cochran.

Due to bridge construction over the railroad, State Route 87/Cochran Bypass will be closed to through traffic for up to one year. During this time, through traffic on SR87 will be detoured onto SR87 Business/2nd Street through downtown Cochran.

During the construction, SR87/Cochran Bypass will be closed to all traffic between Frank Cook Rd. and the intersection with SR87 Business/2nd Street in southeast Cochran.

This bridge construction is the first phase of a $21.38 million improvement project to widen SR87/Cochran Bypass. The project is expected to be fully completed by August 31, 2020.
