Congratulations to the four #MGA Honors Program students who presented research at the Georgia Collegiate Honors Council Conference held recently at Wesleyan College. Rachel Maddox won first place in the humanities essay contest, which included a $200 cash prize. The humanities judges also singled out sophomore Elley Gunter, whose essay was recognized as “Best History Paper.” Freshman Abby Embro was elected to the council’s executive board as student member-at-large.
The MGA participants and their paper titles are:
* Abby Embro, “Two Sided Coin: A Contrast of Duality Regarding Stoicism in Melville”
* Elley Gunter, “Shalom to the Saviors of Savannah”
* Rachel Maddox, “Flawed and Formidable: Galadriel, Éowyn, and Tolkien’s Inadvertent Feminism”
