This past Saturday, the Department of Natural Sciences hosted the 2017 Regional Science Olympiad, with 19 high school science teams competing in 23 different events, ranging from Anatomy and Physiology to Hydrogeology to Electric Vehicles. Highlighting the cross-disciplinary nature of science, events were run not just by Natural Science faculty but also by faculty from the Eastman School of Aviation and the Departments of Mathematics and Media, Culture and the Arts. Numerous student volunteers and guest faculty from Mercer and Fort Valley State helped make the event a success. The top three schools from this past Saturday will compete at the upcoming state-level tournament.
The state-level tournament is being held at Emory this year (https://scholarblogs.emory.edu/scienceolympiad/).
