Employee guide to training requirements

Employees are required to undergo various training programs from time to time, so Ron Ardelean, director of the University’s risk management department, has put together the following summary of current program training requirements currently in place.

All employees are encouraged to review this list and see which training applies to your position. Any questions about any of these programs should be directed to Ron at his email address: ron.ardelean@mga.edu.

 

ALL EMPLOYEES

Right to know training – All employees are required to take this training found here: http://www.usg.edu/facilities/rtk-ghs/

This is a BOR requirement and deadline for training is November 25, 2015

Haven for Employees (sexual assault awareness/Title IX mandatory training) – All employees are required to take this USG-provided training found here: http://www.brainshark.com/everfi/havenfor_MGSUemployees

  • Please use your Middle Georgia State University email address (i.e., lastname@mga.edu) to sign into the online training; and
  • Do not forget to enter your 9-digit employee ID (the number beginning with 983 found on the back of your Knight Card) to receive credit for the training.

This is an annual training requirement and the deadline for faculty and staff to complete Haven for Employees is 11/13/2015. Those who complete it after the deadline will have to complete Haven for Faculty and Staff (it is 1hr rather than 40min), which will be available beginning 11/15/2015.

Harassment and Ethics Training – All employees are required to take this training annually. The date and time has not yet been determined as we are awaiting roll out from the BOR. The Office of Human Resources will notify all employees of this training and the deadlines for taking it as they becomes available.

 

JOB-SPECIFIC TRAINING

Driver Training – All employees that drive for institutional business whether they drive their own vehicle, a state vehicle or a golf cart must take driver training. This is a BOR/MGA annual requirement. You can be assigned training by filling out a Drivers Acknowledgement Form found here: http://www.mga.edu/risk-management/docs/forms/Driver_Acknowledgement_Form.pdf and emailing completed form and any questions to ron.ardelean@mga.edu along with a current copy of your driver’s license. Once this is received the training will be assigned pending a favorable MVR. The deadline is one year from the date of your last training and varies with all employees.

Blood-borne Pathogens – All employees that have the potential to come in contact with blood performing their duties are required to take this training annually. Positions include, but are not limited to: Plant Operations, Police, Natural Sciences and Nursing employees. TSA (Transportation Security Administration) – All employees that work on or visit the Eastman campus are required to take this training annually during the month of November and is found here: http://www.mga.edu/risk-management/tsa-training.aspx Deadline for training is 11/25/2015

CSA (Campus Security Authority training under the Clery Act) – Designated CSAs have received information and links to the training recorded October 14, 2015. Those who were unable to attend in person must watch the recording sent to them and confirm completion to titleix@mga.edu cc police@mga.edu.
