As we prepare to start a new year as a University, Executive VP for Finance & Operations Nancy Stroud announced the following changes, effective July 1, 2015:
Assistant Vice President Risk Management and Police Services – Public Safety/Police and the Risk Management function has been consolidated under Chief Shawn Douglas, and Chief Douglas has been promoted to Assistant Vice President. Chief Douglas came to Macon State in 2010 and started the Police Department within three months of arriving on campus. He has over 24 years of law enforcement and public safety experience, including positions with Georgia Southern University, Gordon State College, and the Georgia Department of Revenue’s Alcohol and Tobacco Division. Chief Douglas holds a Bachelor of Science degree in the Criminal Justice and a Master of Arts degree with concentrations in Political Science and Criminal Justice.
New Food Services Provider – Beginning July 1, Sodexo will be the food service provider for all five MGA campuses. Sodexo has served the Cochran campus for 15 years and is a worldwide leader in higher education food services. Sodexo brings substantial resources and experience to this new partnership and has named Billy Garland as the General Manager over the entire account. Billy will be based on the Macon campus. You will see changes over the next several years, but one of the very first changes will be the addition of a Papa John’s to the Cochran campus sometime during the Fall Semester.
Sodexo is committed to providing MGA with nutritious and delicious food options made with produce grown locally, and they are also providing MGA with a grant to support our sustainability initiatives. You will hear more about this grant as the semester begins and we ask for suggestions on implementation of sustainability practices. We look forward to expanding our partnership with Sodexo in the years ahead.
As previously announced, Dr. Lisa Burroughs joins us today as our new Executive Director of Human Resources. Dr. Burroughs has over 25 years’ experience in Human Resources, including positions at Georgia Tech, Bainbridge State College, and the Georgia Commission on Equal Opportunity. Dr. Burroughs holds Bachelor’s degrees from Florida A&M University, a Master’s degree from Central Michigan University, and a Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. She will be based on the Macon campus but will travel to all campuses for office hours.
