MGA Foundation Wins Excellence Award from Georgia Education Advancement Council

Congratulations to the Middle Georgia State University (MGA) Foundation, MGA’s cooperative partner, which won the 2019 Georgia Education Advancement Council’s Overall Institutional Excellence Award. GEAC presents this award annually to an institution whose philanthropic efforts are considered to be an overall program of excellence.

The MGA Foundation, led by a group of 33 community volunteers who serve as Foundation trustees, has been involved in raising funds for capital improvements, scholarships, faculty support, and student support services. The trustees work in partnership with MGA’s Office of University Advancement and Alumni Affairs. In 2019, the MGA Foundation realized a number of significant gifts to support its School of Aviation, a new student enrollment center, new scholarships, athletics, and student life.

L-R are Wes Zamzow, an MGA alumnus who is now development director at Augusta University (he presented the award at a recent GEAC conference); Natalie Rischbieter, MGA Alumni Relations director; Beth Byers, executive director of Development; Dr. Ken Fincher, vice president of Institutional Advancement; and Julie Davis, executive director of Development.
