MGA Tutors from 8 Tutoring Centers Attend the 15th Annual Georgia Tutoring Association (GaTA) Conference
The 15th annual conference for the Georgia Tutoring Association (GaTA) was hosted by Middle Georgia State University on Saturday, October 21, 2017. The conference brought together over 100 individuals from universities in Middle Georgia, Savanah, Atlanta, Carrolton, North Georgia, and South Georgia. Twenty five individuals from MGA attended the conference. Many tutors from the Writing Center (Macon and Cochran), the Student Success Center (Macon, Cochran, Eastman, and Warner Robins), the Department of History and Political Science Tutoring Center (Macon), and the MARC (Macon) served as session moderators.
Peer tutors and supervisors from across Georgia presented their topics and shared their new ideas and concerns, including how to improve services on their campuses and how to meet the needs of tutees by helping them reach their goals. GaTA was founded in 2001, and its mission is to provide training assistance and opportunities to all college and university tutors in Georgia. The annual conference provides tutors the opportunity to build networks with others in which interchange of great information and new ideas are inevitable.
