New Integrated Library System

MGA is in the final stages of a USG project to implement a new Integrated Library System (ILS)s that will replace our current system.  As patrons of our library, you will mostly notice a difference in our online catalog, GIL.

At go-live on May 26, 2017, will be directed to our new catalog interface.  Additional information will be provided periodically over the next few months within InsideMGA.  Meanwhile, here are a few items of note:

First, and most importantly, our patrons will continue to have access to GIL Express.  GIL Express allows students, faculty, and staff access to all eligible circulating material at all USG libraries.  Some of this service’s features may be different, but any changes will be detailed in upcoming communications in InsideMGA.

Second, access to specific library services could be impacted during our cutover.  These details will be shared in InsideMGA with as much advanced notice as possible.  Here are some general things to keep in mind:

  • 4/24/17:     Cataloging freeze begins; may be difficult to add new items to our catalog
  • 5/1/17:       Cutover to new system begins
  • 5/21 – 5/25/17:     New items can be added to the catalog
  • 5/26/17:     Go live with new system

The library staff is working hard to plan ahead and test our new system as much as possible.  However, it might be that last minute issues arise as we get closer to May.  If you have any questions or concerns about this migration, please contact Pat Borck at 478-471-2865 or  This information will also be sent to students via the student listserv.  Thank you in advance for your patience.
