Professional Closet accepting donations at Aug. 5 Convocation

The Professional Closet is an initiative launched several years ago by School of Education faculty members Dr. Loleta Sartin and Ms. Molly Kimsey. Housed in the Career Services offices on the Cochran and Macon campuses, the Professional Closet is a repository of gently used professional and business casual attire. For $5 per item, MGA students who need access to appropriate clothing for job and internship interviews can purchase the items they need. The proceeds go directly back to the Professional Closet.

As we approach fall semester, members of the Professional Closet’s executive board are asking for your help. Do you have gently used suits, shoes, blazers, blouses, shirts, sweaters, scarves, handbags and ties you no longer need that are taking up valuable space in your own closets? The Professional Closet will gladly take them off your hands!

To make it as easy as possible on you, the Professional Closet will set up a donation table at faculty/staff convocation on August 5 where you may drop off donations. For those taking the bus from the Cochran Campus to the Macon Campus for convocation, there will be a donation station at the pickup site.

Need somebody to pick up items from your home or office? The Professional Closet will happily make those arrangements. Just send an email to careerservices@mga.edu.

If you want to help in other ways, the Professional Closet also accepts donations of laundry detergent, dryer sheets, hangers and Febreze. You can also bring non-perishable food items to donate to the University’s SHARE pantries operated by the Office of Student Affairs.

All donations are tax deductible.

You’ll be hearing a lot more this academic year about the Professional Closet, which is now a collaborative effort involving several University units.
