Proposals for World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates due March 1

This is a reminder that the March 1, 2015 deadline for submission of proposals is almost here. Don’t miss this opportunity to be a key part of the World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates in Atlanta. This event is being organized to promote democratic values and to highlight the significance of freedom and peace in our world. The three and a half days of mini-summits, debates, meetings, workshops and other activities are meant to draw attention to the challenges facing our global civilization. Summit sessions, focused on actions to support democracy and world peace, will cover the following topics:

Civil Rights                              Nuclear Disarmament

Human Rights                           Economic Prosperity

Global Health                           Education

Water/Sustainability                Women’s and Girl’s Empowerment

Technology                               Youth

Poverty                                     Climate Change

Global Peace

As discussed in earlier communications, using a digital application process, eight institutions will be selected to present during breakout sessions highlighting global impact research or study aligned with the summit topics. This is an unprecedented opportunity to spotlight your students and faculty. I am pleased that the University System of Georgia is able to award five thousand dollars for each of the selected proposals to help defray the cost of travel, housing and materials for the presenters.

Proposal requirements and instructions for online submission can be found by accessing the proposal submission web portal at http://digitalcommons.georgiasouthern.edu/nobel_summit. For your convenience, attached to this email is a guideline document outlining the information needed to complete the digital application via the web portal. Please note that the portal will close at midnight on March 1st.

The eight winning presentations will be selected by April 1, 2015. The selected proposals will be showcased at the World Summit in November 2015.

Sincerely,

Henry M. Huckaby
