Join the fun and pledge to #RFTRCG on October 25, 2018, to celebrate the amazing power of reading.
Reading aloud with young children — whether in the classroom, at home, or in the community — builds literacy and language skills and provides positive reading experiences that instill a love of reading.
Children with strong literacy and language skills are more likely to succeed in kindergarten, and a love of reading can foster a love of learning that will benefit children for years to come.
On Thursday, October 25th, join the nation in celebrating the power of shared literacy by participating in Read For The Record – Central Georgia (#RFTRCG) and encouraging readers to spend about a half hour of time reading this year’s book, Maybe Something Beautiful, at a local elementary or primary school. The book will be provided by schools and a digital version will be available to readers for review. Counties participating in #RFTRCG this year include Bibb, Houston, Crawford, Putnam and Baldwin. Participating schools have chosen the number of requested readers and times that work for their students and staff. #RFTRCG needs more than 200 volunteers and the deadline for registration is Friday, October 18th. Please consider encouraging family, friends, and colleagues to register individually or in groups. Group sign up can be easily done by contacting *me (?) directly by phone or email.
