Dr. Jennifer Brannon reports on #MGA’s Division of Student Affairs annual Professional Enrichment Conference, held May 9 on the Cochran Campus.
The program this year included:
- Creating Transformational Learning Environments by Addressing the Elephant in Student Affairs led by UGA professor Dr. Darris Means. We talked about social Justice and ways we can collaborate within student affairs and outside of student affairs to enhance an inclusive environment.
- Transforming the First Generation College Student Experience led by Molly O’Connor of EAB.
- What do we want? Civility!! When do we want it? Now!! Led by our own Dr. Michael Stewart.
At lunch we were greeted by President Blake and we had our annual Greatness Awards in which recognizes greatness within Student Affairs. Members of the Division of Student Affairs nominate their colleagues for these awards. This year’s winners are:
Unsung Hero Award – Dallas Beissel
This award recognizes a “behind the scenes” individual who consistently and effectively performs his or her duties in a manner that enhances the work environment for others.
Extra Mile Award – Gerry Reeves
The award recognizes an individual who consistently goes that “extra mile” to provide exemplary service to students.
Bright Idea Award – Keigan Evans
This award goes to an individual who proposed and implemented a bright idea to improve Student Affairs.
Friend of the Division Award – Rene Teagle
This award recognizes an individual from outside the Division whose extraordinary contribution has enriched the lives of students and made an impact on Student Affairs at MGA.
Distinguished Leadership Award – Melinda Moffett
This award recognizes an individual in the Division who has demonstrated exceptional leadership to improve Student Affairs at MGA.
