Professor D.L. Simmons presented in Birmingham, Alabama at SAMLA 90: Fighters from the Margins: Socio-Political Activists and Their Allies this past weekend in two academic presentations. He also had his Opening Art Exhibition: “Evanescence Eidolon” which features his new artwork collection of large prints during the popular, community-driven event, First Friday Art Crawl in downtown Macon. Arts Festival 2018 is wrapping up this week with our last two events. Mark your calendars and come out and meet the owner of Ampersand Guild located in downtown Macon. Business owner and artist, Daniel Montoute will present a talk and an art demonstration on both the Cochran and Macon campuses.
What happens to the borders and boundaries of the high art object when it becomes a hyperobject through commercialization? If low art is a boundless zombie swarm hollowing all art into economic value, then how does the loss of boundary turn art into a metaphor for other aspects of culture and current events?
This is the 2nd art exhibition of the Fall 2015 semester in the Peacock Gallery of Russell Hall on the Cochran Campus. Our own faculty will be giving the gallery talk on this exhibition.
