The half dozen ideas received this week in the Greatness Dropbox continued to build on last week’s theme of increasing our engagement on campus and beyond. The “great” idea we will explore for action from the Greatness Dropbox this week came from Dr. Gul Celkan, who proposes creating a Socio-cultural, Professional, and Industrial Knowledge and Experience (SPIKE) program designed to create sparks of intellectual excitement at MGA.
In the five weeks since we gathered for Convocation and our call to engagement through the Greatness Dropbox was issued, more than 60 ideas from nearly 50 members of our faculty and staff across all of our campuses have poured in.
This past week we received another 15 ideas in our Greatness Dropbox. The “Great” idea for this week came from Prof. Beth Brown in Respiratory Therapy. She recommended a number of improvements to orientation, including a Freshman Convocation, where our incoming class hears from an inspiring speaker and students and faculty alike make a commitment to our students’ progression and timely graduation.
This past week we received some 15 new ideas in our Greatness Dropbox. The aim of this dialogue is to encourage creativity…the “Great” idea for the week of August 15-21, 2014 came from the Dean of our School of Aviation, Ed Steigerwald. His idea: each School would send to Marketing & Communications a faculty member to work with that team at least one day per week.
I want to commend you for taking up the challenge of submitting ideas to our Greatness Dropbox. Since we met one week ago, we have received 23 distinct ideas, suggestions or recommendations on topics ranging from recycling to days of service to morale improvement.
