The Middle Georgia State Association of Nursing Students (MGSANS) is sponsoring a supply drive for Macon Periods Easier, an organization that works to raise awareness of period poverty and provide menstrual products to schools and other agencies.
From Friday, May 3, through Sunday, May 5, Bike Walk Macon is hosting Jane’s Walk, a series of five walks around different areas in Macon. Each walk is led by citizens who will engage participants in conversation about the neighborhoods being explored on foot. All MGA students, staff and faculty are welcome to participate. Friends of the Library invites the MGA community to check out the 2019 Spring Old Book Sale! The sales will take place at the Riverstreet Corners Shopping Center, 2720 Riverside Drive in Macon on the following dates: Wednesday, April 3, 4:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. Professor D.L. Simmons presented in Birmingham, Alabama at SAMLA 90: Fighters from the Margins: Socio-Political Activists and Their Allies this past weekend in two academic presentations. He also had his Opening Art Exhibition: “Evanescence Eidolon” which features his new artwork collection of large prints during the popular, community-driven event, First Friday Art Crawl in downtown Macon. MACON, GA – The Magnolia Soap Box Derby will be celebrating the tenth year of the event (#DerbyDecade) on Saturday, April 14th, 2018 in downtown Macon. The race will take place on the Magnolia Street by Washington Park.
The derby car racing will begin at 11a and last until 4p. Racing takes place in three classes: Gravity Racing Challenge, Shadetree & Professional.
The Magnolia Soap Box Derby is one of the nation’s largest soap box racing event, attracting around 5,000 visitors annually.
In addition to derby racing, the event features food trucks, a live DJ, performances & STEM educational demos.
Macon’s film community kicks off 2018 with the 20th annual College Town Film Series, opening Jan. 25 at the historic Douglass Theatre in downtown Macon. The three-film series, sponsored by Wesleyan College, Mercer University, and Middle Georgia State University has the theme “Women of the Night: A Film Noir Exploration.” Read more about this upcoming Continue reading
