Wednesday Wellness Walks

Dear MGA Family,

Today, our residential students return to campus. Many of us are putting in a bit of sweat equity welcoming them back, volunteering with Residence Life during move-in day. As the Fall semester gets underway next week, I encourage us all to continue to remain physically active on campus.

To that end, the Staff Council has proposed and I have approved the continuation of Wednesday Walks on all of our campuses. You may recall that the Health Clinics began this practice as the Hump Day Hustle in 2017. We will extend this 30-minute per week walking initiative on Wednesdays through the remainder of 2018 and, based on employee feedback to the Staff Council, consider continuing it through the rest of Academic Year 2018-19 and beyond.

As a reminder, the initiative allows for a 30-minute walk on campus during business hours each Wednesday. Times may vary by campus and by season, to ensure this initiative does not disrupt our service to students. The Staff Council will help designate a point person for each campus to coordinate the times for Wednesday Walks. In addition, we have approved use of the indoor tracks in Macon and Cochran for university-sanctioned Wednesday Walks.

If you need additional incentive to prioritize your wellness, don’t forget that when you complete healthy activities by September 30, 2018, you can earn up to a $100 well-being credit. The well-being credit is only available to employees and spouses covered on a USG healthcare plan (maximum of $200 per family) and will be paid out in the November 2018 paycheck.  For details, see the reminder Human Resources sent out on July 11, 2018, or visit USG’s Well-being site.
