HEERF III Funds

The below email was sent to all MGA students on October 4, 2021.

Dear Students,

We are pleased to announce automatic financial aid grants have been awarded to all students enrolled Fall 2021 at Middle Georgia State University (MGA). These awards are made possible by the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund III (HEERF III) authorized by the American Rescue Plan (ARP) earlier this year. MGA has developed a plan to distribute the $9,969,005 million federal allocation earmarked for student aid funding this academic year. There will be two types of grants for both semesters, automatic and application due to extenuating circumstances. The distribution process will be the same for both semesters. The HEERF III details can be found here, which includes information on emergency grants as well.

Automatic Financial Aid Grants for Fall 2021 have been awarded to student accounts:

  • All currently enrolled students are eligible after drop/add is complete for the semester.
  • Exceptional need is prioritized.
    • Pell grant recipients will receive distributions of $600
    • Non-Pell grant recipients will receive distributions of $400
  • Grants funds are disbursed by BankMobile. Eligible students should ensure they have a refund preference set up in BankMobile in order to receive your funds as quickly as possible. Step by step instructions are found on the link, however, if you need further assistance in reaching BankMobile, you can contact them at 1.877.327.9515.

Emergency financial aid grants may be used by students for any component of their cost of attendance or for emergency costs that arise due to coronavirus, such as tuition, food, housing, health care (including mental health care) or child care. Students determine how they may use their emergency financial aid grant within the allowable uses.

Thank you,
