Georgia Philological Association Conference: Call for Proposals

MGA students and faculty are invited to submit proposals for presentations at the 17th annual Georgia Philological Association (GPA) conference to be held in person on May 19, 2022. Conference organizers are accepting proposals for session topics, panel discussions, and scholarly papers in English on any subjects relating to literature, language, composition, philosophy, history, translation, the general humanities, interdisciplinary studies, and pedagogy. Proposals are due by March 17. The GPA awards the $100 Vicki Hill Memorial Graduate Recognition Award to the graduate student who presents the most successful paper at each conference.  More details can be found here.

The keynote speaker will be MGA Assistant Professor of English Monica Miller who will present “From a Distance: The Challenge of Edited Collections During Difficult Times.”  In 2021, Dr. Miller completed two book manuscripts: a co-edited collection of articles and an edited collection of Flannery O'Connor's letters. In this talk, she will discuss both the joys and challenges of this work, including the extra challenges of editing book collections in the midst of the pandemic.

Several MGA English faculty are involved in the GPA. Lorraine Dubuisson is currently serving as president and Rhonda Crombie as treasurer. Dr. Dubuisson also serves on the editorial board of the journal and as a blind peer reviewer. Questions about presentation proposals and the conference in general can be sent to lorraine.dubuisson@mga.edu.
