Book Discussion: The Duke of 18th & Vine by Harold Michael Harvey

Harold Michael Harvey, Atlanta-based journalist and pundit, will discuss his book The Duke of 18th & Vine at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16, in the Arts Complex Theatre of Middle Georgia State University's Macon Campus. The book is a look at the work of Georgia-born Bob Kendrick, who is president of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City, Mo. The museum is located in Kansas City's historic 18th & Vine district.
This Black History Month event is hosted by the University's Office of Diversity, Inclusion, & Equity and is open to students, faculty, and staff.
Founded in 1990, the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum is dedicated to preserving and celebrating the rich history of African American baseball and its profound impact on the social advancement of America. President of the museum since 2011, Kendrick led the creation of several signature educational programs and the "Hall of Game," which annually honors former Major League Baseball greats who played the game in the spirit and signature style of the Negro Leagues. Kendrick was born in Crawfordville, Ga.
Harvey is a former managing editor of The Macon Courier and former political editor of The Tuskegee Voice. He frequently writes about black college baseball and race and justice issues.
