Spring 2022 Automatic Financial Aid Grants

The below email was sent to all MGA students on February 8, 2022 from Enrollment Management.

Dear Students,

The automatic financial aid grants for the Spring 2022 semester are on the way! The grants have been awarded to all eligible students enrolled Spring 2022 at Middle Georgia State University (MGA). These federal awards are made possible by the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund III (HEERF III) and Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund II (HEERF II), which included federal allocations earmarked for student aid funding.

There are two types of automatic grants this semester and another grant that required an application. The distribution process is the same for all. The HEERF fund details can be found here , which includes information on emergency grants as well.

Automatic Financial Aid Grants for Spring 2022 have been awarded to student accounts:

  • Students must be enrolled at the time of disbursement in order to be eligible.
  • Exceptional need is prioritized.
    • Pell grant recipients will receive distributions of $620 (HEERF III)
    • Non-Pell grant recipients will receive distributions of $420 (HEERF III)

AND

    • Pell grant recipients will receive distributions of $226 (HEERF II)
    • Non-Pell grant recipients will receive distributions of $106 (HEERF II)
  • Students enrolled for Spring 2022 may review their HEERF awards in SWORDS:
  1. Log into your SWORDS account , using your student email username and password.
  2. Select the “Student” tab, located near the top of the screen
  3. Select “Student Account” from the list of options
  4. Select “Account Detail for Term” to see your account activity. The HEERF II and HEERF III fund amounts will be listed towards the bottom of the list.

For Spring 2022, the following amounts have been disbursed:

HEERF III Applications:   $1,336,000           -              1,336 students

HEERF III Auto disburse: $3,500,520          -              7,026 students

HEERF II Auto disburse: $1,072,396           -              7,006 students

TOTAL:                                 $5,908,916

Emergency financial aid grants may be used by students for any component of their cost of attendance or for emergency costs that arise due to coronavirus, such as tuition, food, housing, health care (including mental health care) or child care. Students determine how they may use their emergency financial aid grant within the allowable uses.
