Theatre at MGA - Cochran presents their innovative production, "The Shape of Things."
"Cool" and "provocative" play, The Shape of Things, by playwright Neil LaBute, was made into a film in 2003 starring Rachel Weisz and Paul Rudd. Theatre at MGA - Cochran will be performing the play April 5-7 at 6:00 pm beginning in the Peacock Gallery in Russell Hall on the Cochran Campus. From then, each scene will be performed in a different location somewhere between Russell Hall and Roberts Library. The production crew has been hard at work transforming various locations around the Cochran Campus for the play, including converting one location in Russell Hall into a loft-style apartment. The play will take place in nine locations overall, but one is used twice in completely different ways each time.
John Iverson, director of theatrical productions on MGA's Cochran Campus, praises the cast and crew for their exceptionally hard work and encourages the MGA community to immerse themselves in this new production.
"I think it's going to be a fun way to produce an already engaging and somewhat controversial play. How one feels about the play depends on your individual perspective, so I'm changing the audience's perspective in each scene. (Heads up: If you look up why the play is provocative or slightly controversial, you will spoil the surprise ending. Your call!) I'm hoping the show will feel a bit like a scavenger hunt, a bit like an adventure, and I'm hoping it'll make people actually want to come back and see the show again while it lasts to catch things they may have missed the first time around."
