Knights Baseball Competes in SSAC Tournament

Last week, MGA Knights baseball team was on the field in Columbus, Georgia at Golden Park, site of the SSAC Baseball Tournament. The Knights went into the tourney as the 5-seed after going 12-12 in the conference during the regular season.

In their first game, the Knights faced off against the 4-seed Barons of Brewton-Parker College in the first game of the tourney after going 2-3 against the Barons during the season. The game would be tied at 1-1 in the fifth inning. The Knights would give up an RBI triple in the bottom of the fifth inning and a two run home run in the eighth as they would be unable to get any offense started and they would lose 4-1.

After suffering a disappointing loss in the first game, the Knights took on the Tornadoes of Talladega College. The Knights would be the first team on the scoreboard and win the game with an 8-2 score, returning to take on the loser of the 1-seed Faulkner University and 4-seed Brewton-Parker College game.

The Knights lost to the Barons in the first game of the SSAC Tournament and were looking for some revenge as they would have a chance to knock the Barons out of the tournament. The Knights looked good as Brian Herrera would hit a two run home run in the first inning to give the Knights a 2-0 lead. However, they were on the wrong end of a back and forth game and would go on to lose to the Barons 10-9. The Knights finish the season with a record of 30-19-1.
