MGA Dept. of Respiratory Therapy Celebrates Respiratory Care Week 2022

October 23-29, 2022 is National Respiratory Care Week. The recent pandemic profiled the role of the Respiratory Therapist as a key caregiver for patients who are critically ill. Respiratory Therapists care for patients with cardiopulmonary illness, from neonatal to geriatric populations, and in a wide range of clinical settings, including ICUs, ERs, homecare, physician offices, flight transport, industry, and education. RT's are most widely known for the management of mechanical ventilation in ICU; however, chances are if you know someone with asthma, COPD, sleep apnea, or a premature baby, they have benefited from the care of a Respiratory Therapist.

MGA’s Department of Respiratory Therapy, nationally accredited since 1994, is located on the Macon Campus and is nationally recognized for its programmatic credentialing outcomes. MGA offers a Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy Entry-Level program, as well as an online Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy AS to BS Completion program for practicing Registered Respiratory Therapists with an AS degree. At a time when there is a shortage of Respiratory Therapists, we encourage our campus community to share about the wonderful opportunities of a career in Respiratory Therapy.
