Shuttlesworth, an Alabama Public Television Documentaries production that will premiere on December 20, features an extensive interview with Dr. Andrew Manis, retired history professor at MGA. Manis is the author of "A Fire You Can't Put Out," the Lillian Smith Book Award-winning biography of civil rights activist Rev. Fred Shuttlesworth. Shuttlesworth, a Birmingham, Alabama-based minister, was a co-founder of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and worked closely with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. He died in 2011 at the age of 89.
