MGA Equestrian Coach Speaks to WGXA About New Cattle Roping Lessons

In a recent article, MGA Equestrian Coach Allie Arrington spoke to WGXA about her new cattle roping lessons being offered in Middle Georgia.

"'Right now, we're teaching team roping,' said Arrington. 'We're actually the only team roping in Middle Georgia.'

Beginner ropers spend about a year on the ground harnessing their roping skills using a dummy - a fake cow - before saddling up and combining the two skills.

The rookie class moves the beginners up to the next level, where they learn to swing their rope while on horseback; all of which is done while chasing a 'sled,' which Arrington says is a moving fake cow pulled by something motorized. After that, it's on to the real deal.

Her lesson program will soon add live cattle for lessons after their new arena build is completed sometime closer to April."
