MGA Facilities would like to update the campus community about several roof projects that will be taking place over the next few months.
- In Macon, the Jones Building roof repair will impact faculty, staff, and students using the west entry (closest to Ivey drive). During the week of January 16, a crane was used to move supplies and materials up to the job site on top of the building. Over the next few weeks, Facilities expects two other occasions for the crane to be on-site to remove construction debris. Facilities will post signage asking that individuals avoid the area during those times. The crane will most likely be scheduled for a Friday to minimize impact, but there could be additional dates depending on the project schedule.
- In Cochran, Facilities will be repairing the roof on Walker Hall roof and replacing the roof on Talmadge Hall.
These projects are funded through the Board of Regents Major Repair and Renovation (MRR) process.
- UPDATE (2/14/23): The Library and Math Building on the Macon Campus will experience brief, intermittent outages during the afternoon on Friday, February 17, due to electrical upgrades. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
- On Saturday, March 25, power to the Macon campus will be disrupted for an extended period of time as Georgia Power will be moving some electrical lines underground. They will begin work at 7:00 a.m. and expect to be finished by 7:00 p.m. Lakeview Pointe, University Pointe, Recreation & Wellness, and the Peyton T. Anderson Enrollment Center will not be impacted by this outage as they are on a different electrical “leg.” Facilities will be working with the departments that require generators to power important equipment/systems during the outage.
- Additionally, Facilities is upgrading the fiber on the west side of the Macon Campus, which will take place on Wednesday, February 8, from 12:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.m. and again on Thursday, February 9, from 12:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.m. During these times, internet service to the Macon Campus will not be impacted. However, service to buildings that have Apogee internet services, such as Lakeview Pointe and University Pointe, will be down.
Facilities apologizes in advance for any inconvenience this may cause and asks for your patience as they upgrade these systems.
