Science Olympiad 2023

On Saturday, February 18, the Department of Natural Sciences at MGA hosted a regional tournament for the 2023 Georgia Science Olympiad. The event brought together over 300 high school students from 13 high schools across the state to compete in up to 23 events.

The Department of Natural Sciences and other STEM faculty put together a range of events that tested students’ knowledge of science, engineering abilities, creativity, and communication. At the conclusion of the tournament, the top two teams were separated by a single point, and the top four teams will continue on to compete at the statewide tournament on April 15. The event director, Dr. Larry Camarota, noted that he had received a lot of positive feedback from the Coaches and that the attendees noted that this was one of the most well-done Science Olympiads that they had seen.
