The School of Arts & Letters will welcome Joy Harjo, internationally renowned musician, performer, and writer of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation, 23rd Poet Laureate of the United States (2019-2022), and first Native American Poet Laureate, to present on Tuesday, September 26, at 11:30 a.m. on MGA's Macon Campus.
Harjo is also the 2022 winner of the National Book Critic Circle's Ivan Sandroff Lifetime Achievement Award. Harjo has recently been named the winner of Yale’s 2023 Bollingen Prize for American Poetry. The Bollingen Prize is awarded biennially by Yale University Library through Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library to an American poet for the best book published during the previous two years or for lifetime achievement in poetry.
