MGA's Museum of Technology (MoT) was a participant in the recently concluded 10th Annual Vintage Computer Festival Southeast, held in Atlanta from July 28 to 30, 2023. Represented by Tina Ashford and Ryan Ashford, the museum exhibited two notable items from its collection – the Altair 8800b-dm and the Amiga 2000.
The Altair 8800b-dm took center stage, drawing attention as an artifact of computing history, emblematic of the evolution of technology. The Altair's presence was further enriched by the contribution of its owner, Mr. Paul Hutcheson, who collaborated with the MoT team to shed light on its historical significance. This artifact, on permanent loan to MoT, aligns with the museum's mission of preserving pivotal moments in the technological narrative.
Also on display was the Amiga 2000, an artifact that provided insight into the innovative landscape of its time. While the Amiga 2000 is selectively available for special exhibits, its role in shaping the trajectory of personal computing was underscored at the festival.
Tina Ashford and Ryan Ashford orchestrated the exhibition, offering attendees a curated perspective on the evolution of computing and an acknowledgment of the pioneers behind its advancement.
MoT expresses gratitude to the organizers of the Vintage Computer Festival Southeast for the opportunity to showcase these valuable pieces. The museum acknowledges the support of its patrons and the broader community, whose contributions are instrumental in fulfilling MoT's mission to commemorate and explore the history of technology.
