In December 2023, the first 50 people were selected for the introductory cohort of Middle Georgia State University (MGA) and the DeKalb County School Board's IGNITE Teacher Residency Program. The cohort began its training in January 2024.
MGA partnered with the DeKalb County School Board to provide future educators with the teacher residency program as part of the Board's ongoing initiative to fill vacancies in Georgia's third-largest school system. The IGNITE program aims to train 100 teachers by June 2025.
