The below email was sent to all MGA students on April 26, 2024, from Amanda Funches, vice president of Finance, Business & Operations.
Dear Knights,
As a follow-up to President Blake’s April 17 message about tuition rates for next year, we want to update you on some changes regarding mandatory fees. These changes will be implemented starting Fall semester. Even with the changes to tuition and mandatory fees, MGA remains the most affordable state university in Georgia.
We have revised the structure of mandatory fees to better align with the evolving needs and priorities of our University. These changes aim to enhance your overall MGA experience while ensuring transparency and fairness in fee allocation.
Key changes include:
Recreation & Wellness Fee: Previously charged only to Macon and Warner Robins students, the Recreation & Wellness fee will now be charged in full ($180) to Macon and Cochran students and partially ($90) to Dublin, Eastman, and Warner Robins students to better align with the offerings on each campus. All students will have access to every Wellness Center facility and program on all 5 campuses. This change will streamline the fee structure and reduce confusion regarding who can use which facilities.
Online Learning Fee: Students who take their classes fully online have always paid the full Technology fee, but they also have had access to most of the other services MGA provides to students that are funded through fees. The new Online Learning fee ($239) consists of the full Technology fee plus 50% of the other fees. This change will ensure that we can continue to provide support services to all students.
We believe these changes will contribute to a more vibrant and supportive University experience, fostering your success, wellbeing, and personal growth. Detailed information about the revised fee structure, including breakdowns and deadlines, can be reviewed online.
Best regards,
Amanda
