Middle Georgia State University interim head softball coach Randi Wimpy has been named as the full-time coach, effective immediately as announced by Director of Athletics, Michael Brown. Coach Wimpy has served as the interim head coach since the 2023 SSAC Softball Tournament and led the Knights throughout the 2023-24 academic year.
In her first season at the helm, Coach Wimpy led the team to a 33-16 record, finishing second in the SSAC regular season standings as well as runner-up in the 2024 SSAC Conference Tournament, and securing a berth in the NAIA Opening Round for the second straight season.
"I look forward to seeing how Randi continues to grow as a coach and leader of our softball program. She embraced the challenges of a difficult schedule last season and helped lead our team to a second-straight NAIA postseason appearance and we believe the future is bright for our team under her leadership," said Brown.
