School of Computing Welcomes Coding Competition Teams

On Saturday, November 16, MGA's School of Computing hosted the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC), the oldest, largest, and most prestigious programming contest in the world.

Teams of three students wrote computer programs to solve a set of problems in five hours. Programming teams from Georgia Institute of Technology, Mercer University, Auburn University, and Auburn at Montgomery University competed at the Southeast USA (SEUSA) Regional Contest site on MGA's Macon Campus.

MGA welcomed close to 100 students and their sponsors from Southeastern universities for this distinguished competition, including: University of North Georgia, Dahlonega; Florida State University, Tallahassee, Florida; College of Charleston, Charleston, South Carolina; Florida International University, Miami, Florida; University of West Florida, Pensacola, Florida.

Coordinating the day's competition for the School of Computing were: Dr. Alex Koohang, dean; Dr. Kevin Floyd, associate dean; Dr. Myungjae Kwak, department chair; Jed Edge, department chair and professor; Kendall Palmer, executive assistant; and Brooke Ingram, program coordinator.

Faculty volunteers for the day were: Dr. Shannon Beasley, Dr. Shaun Hope, Dr. Joobum Kim, Dr. Douglas Malcolm, Dr. Vicky Sandoval, and Dr. Alan Stines.
