Amadi Gaines, an MGA senior majoring in political science, has been officially accepted into the Georgia Legislative Internship Program (GLIP) for the 2025 Georgia General Assembly session! As part of this prestigious program, Gaines and other interns will have a multitude of different tasks to perform each day of the session. Tasks may include legislative tracking, constituent services, media assistance, attendance at committee meetings, writing bill summaries, and so much more. During their time at the Georgia State Capitol, interns will gain knowledge of how state government works, how the legislative process works, and make lifelong career contacts and friendships.
Gaines, 21, is originally from Macon but grew up in London, England, with her mother and younger brother, Tobi, before returning to the U.S. at age 18. She applied for GLIP hoping to benefit from the networking opportunities and learning experiences it will afford her before she enters a graduate program. Her dream career, she said, would involve both politics and space.
"I would love to focus on space law and work with valued institutions that aim to connect politics with space," she said.
Gaines, a student worker at the Center for Career & Leadership Development, expects to complete her degree in summer 2025. After that she plans to work for a year, then apply to graduate programs in the U.S. and the U.K.
