About the Speaker:
Jim West has over 32 years of experience in the information technology field, with over 20 years focused on cybersecurity. He has worked in the security industry across many commercial, space, federal, and defense sectors, with expertise in Biometrics, Risk Management, Security Analysis, and Network and Systems Auditing. Jim holds multiple certifications, which include CISSP-ISSEP, ISSMP, GSLC, GCIH, GSNA, GPEN, G2700, PMP, C-CISO, S-CISO, and many others. Jim has been invited to speak at cybersecurity conferences and events worldwide, including the NSA IA Symposium, Texas Technology Summit, CSfC Tech Day, TechNet Korea, Global CISO Forum, Cyber Bowl, Hacker Halted, etc. He was shortlisted as a finalist for Personality of the Year for the 2018, 2019, and 2020 Cyber Security Awards and won in 2021. He also received the Cyber Leader of the Year Award in 2024 and was a shortlisted finalist for the ISC2 Harold Tipton Lifetime Achievement Award and the ISACA Inspirational Leadership Award. West is also an award-winning author and writer. Jim’s “Cyber Security and Test Tips” eBook was placed in the “100 Best Cyber Security Books of All Time” list by Bookauthority.org. For years, he has developed and overseen IT and cybersecurity strategies and solutions that solve complex problems for national security systems and networks.

His tips and methods work effectively against most vendor-agnostic cyber certifications like CompTIA's A+, Security+, CASP+, and CySA+. ISACA's CISA and CISM. ISC2's CC, SSCP, CISSP, ISSMP, ISSAP, and ISSEP. OEM/Vendor certifications (e.g. Cisco, Microsoft) are considered "technical" certifications, and these will have content that requires knowledge of their particular solutions. Still, the methods can help given some situational questions in those exams.
