A recent cooperative study between Dr. Tyler Achatz, assistant professor of biology at MGA, and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ Wildlife Resources Division found that two species of invasive aquatic snails can potentially cause illness to humans and harm Georgia wildlife.
Atlanta's WSB-TV Channel 2 featured the study in a recent article, warning Georgians of the invasive species.
"The Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ Wildlife Resources Division are encouraging anglers, boaters, and visitors to lakes across the state to help prevent the spread of invasive snail species.
"They say these species can harbor a type of worm that can potentially cause illness in humans if eaten."
