Middle Georgia State University's (MGA) School of Aviation equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to handle the pressure and succeed in the "high-stakes role" of an air traffic controller. In response to recent tragic aviation incidents, 13WMAZ highlighted the University's air traffic management program, speaking with MGA instructor Angela Taylor.
"Since her departure from the Air Force nearly 10 years ago, Taylor's committed her life to teaching the next generation of aviators.
"The curriculum covers the history of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the responsibilities of air traffic controllers and the specialized phraseology language of aviation to ensure clear and precise communication with pilots.
"MGA is one of only 31 FAA-approved Collegiate Training Initiative programs in the country, making it a highly sought-after institution for aspiring air traffic controllers.
"With a strong commitment to training, instructors dedicate hours to lectures and hands-on lab sessions, reinforcing the importance of precision in every aspect of the job."
