Knights baseball was back on the field on Saturday, March 8, as they looked to finish off their conference weekend at UT-Southern with a sweep. The Knights won the first two games of the series on Friday and looked to keep the offense rolling into Saturday's game.
After the Firehawks scored a run in the first inning, the Knights loaded the bases in the second inning with no outs but a strike out and double play ended their chances of having a big inning. The Knights took the lead in the third inning and extended the lead in the fourth inning on a three-run home run, giving them a 7-1 lead over the Firehawks. The Knights added an insurance run in the sixth inning, added two more runs in the eighth inning, and scored on a wild pitch to take a bigger lead. The Knights pitching staff kept the Firehawks from starting any comebacks as the Knights went on to win the game 10-1.
The series sweep put the Knights at 13-10, 7-5 SSAC putting them in a tie for fourth in the conference standings.
