Knights Win Big on Road | Baseball

Knights baseball hit the road on Tuesday, April 8, as they headed to Hardeeville, S.C. to take on the Sand Sharks of USC-Beaufort. The Knights played the Sand Sharks earlier in the season, winning 10-0, and were looking to repeat their previous performance.

The Sand Sharks cut into the lead in the bottom half of the inning with a sacrifice fly, but the Knights added more runs in the second inning on an RBI single by Zane Faulk and a two-run single by Pimentel. The Sand Sharks cut the lead to 6-3 with two more runs in the bottom half of the second inning. The two offenses went quiet until the fifth inning when the Knights scored on a balk.

The Knights added two more runs in the sixth inning with a sacrifice fly by Flaherty and an RBI single by Jaiden Duarte. The Knights continued to add runs with one run in the eighth inning on a strikeout in the dirt and two runs in the ninth inning with a two-run single by Duarte. The Knights gave up a run on a bases loaded walk but they held on to win 12-4. Jose Vargas went 4-for-6 at the plate as three Knights each had three RBI.

The Knights will look to carry their momentum into their weekend series as they host the Wolfpack of Loyola University starting on Friday, April 11. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. EDT.
