Cybersecurity Takes a Village: Interdisciplinary Perspectives
Tuesday, October 21 | 8 AM – 1 PM
Macon Campus | Hatcher Conference Center
Submission Deadline: Tuesday, July 1
Cybersecurity is not just a technical challenge—it is a societal one. Every discipline plays a role in securing the digital world, from law and ethics to business, healthcare, social sciences, education, and beyond. The rise of artificial intelligence (AI) and automation adds new dimensions to these discussions, influencing security, privacy, and ethical considerations across industries.
To foster a broader conversation, faculty from all disciplines are invited to submit proposals for 20-minute presentations that explore how their field intersects with cybersecurity for MGA's 8th annual Academic Cybersecurity Seminar.
Suggested Topics Include (But Are Not Limited To):
- Business & Finance: Cyber risk management, fraud detection, AI-driven security solutions
- Healthcare: Medical data security, HIPAA compliance, AI in diagnostics and patient privacy
- Law & Policy: Cyber law, digital rights, privacy regulations, AI governance and ethics
- Social Sciences: The psychology of cybercrime, social engineering, misinformation, AI in social media
- Education: Teaching cybersecurity awareness, AI-powered tools in learning and assessment
- Arts & Media: The role of digital art in cybersecurity awareness, protecting creative works online, deepfake detection
- STEM & Beyond: Any unique perspective on cybersecurity’s impact on your field, including the role of AI in shaping security strategies
Proposal Guidelines
Interested presenters should submit a brief proposal (250-500 words) including:
- Presentation Title
- Abstract (A concise summary of the topic and key takeaways)
- Relevance to Cybersecurity (How your field connects to cybersecurity and emerging technologies such as AI)
- Speaker Information and Bio (Brief background and expertise)
Submission Process
Please submit proposals via forms.office.com/r/JL2DRncfCC by July 1. Selected speakers will be notified by August 15.
We look forward to your insights on how cybersecurity extends beyond traditional IT fields and into the broader academic and professional landscape, especially in the evolving era of AI and automation.
