MGA faculty and students in the Master of Science in Occupational Therapy (MSOT) Program were well-represented at the annual American Occupational Therapy Association Conference in Philadelphia, Pa., April 3-5.
Dr. Traci Swartz, MSOT program director, Dr. Emily Riggs, assistant professor, and Dr. Amanda Davis, assistant professor presented a short course, "Knowledge Translation in Level I Fieldwork to Develop Evidence-Based Practitioners."
Current second year students in the MSOT program, Katlyn Buchanan, Brandy Clements, Mary Cummings, and Kevin West, along with their research group mentor and adjunct instructor Dr. Mary Shotwell, presented a poster, titled "Normative, Concurrent, and Known Groups Validity on the Chicago-Quick Hand Function Test."
Dr. Riggs and Dr. Shotwell presented two posters on behalf of previous MSOT graduates related to "Staff and Veteran Perceptions of Occupational Therapy in a Veterans Treatment Court Program." The posters represent the work of MSOT 2024 graduates Alexis Hawkins, Daphyne Ewings, Yolanda Young, Tonya Anglon, Micah Songer, and Jamey Figureoa.
Dr. Shotwell, in conjunction with Dr. Amrendra Kumar from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions, presented a poster, titled "The Chicago-Quick Hand Function Test: An Outcome Measure for In-Hand Manipulation & Dexterity," in which 2024 MGA MSOT graduates, Miranda Branch, Paige Forster, Misty Hueser, Yasmine Leonard, Jenna Roberts, and Kalyn Stubbs contributed to data collection as part of their research coursework.
