MGA Welcomes New Volleyball, Cross Country Coaches

On Tuesday, March 25, MGA welcomed new head coaches Cara MacFarland and John Green to the University with a reception on the Macon Campus. Knights Athletics hosted the welcome reception for the newest Knights, where they were joined by members of the MGA family, including President Christopher Blake.

Once a volleyball player herself for the University, McFarland is now returning to MGA as the new head coach for the Knights volleyball program. She was a standout student-athlete from 2017-2020, finishing her MGA career as the all-time program leader in service aces and digs while ranking in the top five in kills and assists. Prior to returning to the University, MacFarland spent more than three years on the volleyball coaching staff at Northwestern State University, an NCAA Division I school.

John Green, the new head coach for the MGA women's cross country and distance track teams.

John Green is the first full-time head coach for the Knights women's cross country program. An outstanding collegiate and amateur runner in his own right, he will also assume the head coaching role for MGA's newly formed distance track team, coming Spring 2026. Green most recently served as the head coach for another NCAA Division II program at Georgia College and State University, where he helped lead the Bobcats program first as a volunteer assistant before being elevated to head coach.
