Knights men's tennis was back in action on Tuesday, May 13, as they were in Mobile, Ala. to play in the 2025 NAIA National Tournament. The Knights came into the tournament as the 16-seed and were set to face the 17-seed Mustangs of Morningside University.
The match started off in favor of the Knights as they won the #1 Doubles match with Daniel Garcia Suarez/Adria Pratdepadua 7-5. They dropped the other two Doubles matches 5-7 as the Mustangs won the point. The competition moved into singles matches with Dominik Simunovic winning the #2 match 6-2, 6-2 to tie the overall match at 1-1. The Mustangs won the #6 and #5 matches to get within one point of winning the overall match. The final three matches all came down to the final set with Daniel Garcia Suarez winning the #1 match 0-6, 6-2, 7-5 and Adria Pratdepadua winning the #3 match 6-7, 6-4, 7-5 to tie the match at 3-3. The match came down to the #4 Singles match with Duarte Mestre playing for the match. Mestre won the first set 6-3 but would lose the second set 4-6 and the match came down to the final set. The set was as close as it could be with Mestre coming through in the clutch and winning the set 7-6 to give the Knights a 4-3 win.
The Knights will be back on the court on Wednesday, May 14, as they will face the 1-seed Grizzlies of Georgia Gwinnett College. Match is set to start at 1 p.m. CDT/2 p.m. EST.
