Cashless businesses are on the rise.
Dr. Greg George, economist and director of MGA’s Center for Economic Analysis, sits down with 13WMAZ to discuss the increase of cashless businesses in Middle Georgia and why the "trend" of going cashless is here to stay.
"'The general trend has been moving away from cash and towards, you know, plastic forms of payment, and now to our phones. And that trend will continue because it's just not as convenient to carry cash around,' George said.
"He said it's more risky for businesses to handle cash, and it takes time to go back and forth to the bank. But going cashless can also can come with a cost - literally."
