MGA Business Hour Changes

The below email was sent to all faculty and staff from Amanda Funches, vice president of Finance, Business & Operations, on Monday, June 16, 2025.

Good morning, faculty, and staff,

In our ongoing commitment to delivering exceptional service to our students, MGA, along with all USG institutions, will be changing its operating hours, Monday through Friday, with core business hours from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. These core hours will allow for greater accomplishment of “enhanced collaboration, timely support, and student engagement,” the stated goals of the USG guidelines.

Full implementation will result in a shift to MGA’s standard business hours. Currently during the academic year, we work 9 hours Monday – Thursday and 4 hours on Fridays. Beginning Monday, August 4, 2025, we will implement an 8-hour Monday – Friday work schedule.  

Available Work Schedules:

Due to the complexity associated with operating five campuses, and the culture of our university, we are committed to maintaining a level of flexibility in work schedules.  As such, with the approval of the department manager and respective divisional head/VP, the following work schedules will be available to employees. Each division will be responsible for ensuring that their office(s) is open and staffed Monday – Friday from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. All employees will be required to take either a 30-minute or 1-hour lunch break.

*Exception:  Operating hours may vary for departments who maintain “non-standard hours”. The needs of the business may require employees to work 10-hour shifts or the department’s operating hours to extend beyond 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. Any other deviations will be at the discretion of the Vice President with a notification to the Office of Human Resources.

In addition to the business hour changes, all existing employee telework agreements will be terminated effective June 30, 2025. Any special circumstances or exceptions, requiring telework must be reviewed and approved by the division VP, Human Resources, and the President.
